A constellation of eco-cultural and decolonial spatial prototypes rooted in diasporic Lenapehoking landscapes, exploring commoning ritual cosmogonies through ephemeral pavilion structures, inside-out domesticity, and urban threshold ecologies.
“Architecture of Flight,” a seasonal ephemeral Pavilion that functions as a community space for ritualistic diagram-making. diagram-making initiatives include popular practices across cultures, such as kite-flying, responding to wind ecologies, seasonal bird flights across diasporas, and
witnessing climate change, seed-foraging, seed banks, copper etching with mandalas/yantras, kolam, winnowing, sowing, nourishment of earthly bodies, and collective cooking, to form a relational field for chimeric-psycho-geo-climatic-ritualized-sensory form-making for planetary interventions. Flight apparatuses produce kinetic energy to sustain themselves.
The pavilion becomes a place to diagram the sky, movement as both liberation and ecological attunement. Chimeric symbolic field conditions become conditions of worlding mystic infinities, housing the symbolic invisible with visibilities for symbolic communions. Geomythic architectural vessels become apparatuses for interconnectedness and climate resilience through spatial geomythoscopies.
Process: Through collaborations with craft communities, cultural practitioners, and clients, I develop immersive, multisensory spatial prototypes for collective diagrammatic flights, interspecies encounters, and community-led civic places. Atmospheric ritualized land becomes a canvas for collective transformations within rich symbolic relational fields, illuminating each other and liberating each other.
Framework : Architectural Hieroglyphic pedagogy centers “diagram-making initiatives to practice liberatory forms” through a series of transformative transmaterial rituals of the commons for a mythic wording with human and interspecies belongings within topographies of diasporic land, song, and flight.
My material research examines the narrative and ritual potential of matter, seeking new wording spatial practices. Indexical transmaterial ritual space is a geomythic place where communities come together and diagram their futures together in a ritualistic celebratory manner, where they get to model transformational relational landscapes and practice liberation and solidarity strategies through celebratory form-making.
